Sport and other activities at Carmel High School
A richly satisfying school experience depends not only on academic endeavour and achievement but also on an involvement in a varied and stimulating programme.
Outdoor Education is a special feature of Carmel High School. Day excursions and week long camps are held in which the students engage in challenging activities such as high ropes and abseiling, day and night caving explorations and other problem-solving and team-building activities.
The Physical Education programme offers participation in a wide variety of sports and activities. House swimming and athletics carnivals are held annually and both carnivals enjoy a high level of participation at both competitive and fun levels. All High School students participate in a variety of interschool sports activities in summer and winter competitions as part of the ACC.
The range of sports and activities in which students are given the opportunity to participate during their High School years includes cricket, soccer, tennis, touch rugby, basketball, football, volleyball, netball, archery, scuba diving, water polo, surfing, martial arts, squash, snooker, cross-county, triathlons and more. An interstate ski trip to the snowfields in Victoria is also held regularly, and the Year 9 Physical Education camp to Rottnest is always a highlight.
Many other activities are offered in the Secondary School to cater for the widest variety of interests - Debating, Chess, Mock Trials, Public Speaking competitions and SCRAM (a Peer Mediation competition) to name a few.
