Our very own tennis super star, Year 5 student Jake Dembo, had the honour of tossing the coin at the men’s final of this year’s Australian Open. The final, between Roger Federer and Marin Cilic, was on January 28 and Jake was called out onto court ahead of the match to toss the coin for service. The Year 10 students have begun the year with a Water Polo unit at Terry Tyzack Swimming Pool. The Annual Cricket Carnival was held at Melvista Oval (Nedlands) last week in warm conditions. Two Carmel teams competed in the competition both winning two of their four games. Using a junior format of ‘T20 Blast’ there were plenty of opportunities to swing the bat and score runs which both teams did with gusto.
