On the 27th and 28th of November, Ruth Karotkin, Dylan Kotkis, Olivia Walters, and myself, attended a student leadership course with about a hundred other student leaders from various schools at the Australian Institute of Management (AIM).

During this two day course, we learnt about what makes a good leader and how to be a good leader, and then put these skills to the test by working with other students on a case that was presented before the board of a company. On day one we learnt how to incorporate everyone in our leadership plan, how to communicate well with others, and how to deal with difficult situations. At the beginning of day two we were split into groups of 10 and were tested to see how well we could work in teams with people we had not met before. We were all given a case to present to the board of a company and we had to work together to create a presentation to win the board over onto our side. This exercise worked really well as we all learnt how to adapt to new scenarios and how to work well as a team.

Overall, the program was constructed very effectively to help us understand how to be good leaders and it also taught us how to use our new found skills. This will also be of benefit to the School as now that we have this experience, we aim to use what we have learnt to be the best school leaders we can be.
