The Year 7 students have begun working through the Physics component of the Year 7 Science curriculum. A section of the course requires them to learn about forces, more specifically, types of forces and investigating the effect applying different forces has on familiar objects. With a warmer change in weather, the students and teacher decided to investigate the concept of balanced and unbalanced forces on the oval in a game of Tug of War. The aim of the activity was to produce two groups with equal opposing force. In the final trial we decided to verse males against females, with the males clearly confident that this was an unbalanced force in their favour. After a rigorous effect, it was found that the forces were unbalanced but favoured the females, much to their delight.
