The “birthday of the trees” - Tu Bishvat began at sundown on Tuesday 30 January and ended at sundown on Wednesday 31 January. Tu Bishvat continues to be an opportunity for planting trees — in Israel and elsewhere, wherever Jews live. Tu Bishvat restores the ecology of our world and is a symbol of renewed growth and flowering of the Jewish people.

Carmel school students planted a mandarin tree. Asher Raiter and Annabel Moen our Judaica managers together with Mr. Scrivener planted the tree in the Yom Yerushalayim pot at the front of the school. Year 4 planted parsley and spinach in our JNF Eco Centre as well as the kindy students, and we look forward to using our produce at our Pesach seder. Year 6 made delicious date balls with their teachers and all students ate a variety of fruits from the 7 species for which Israel is famous. The Tzevet ran activities at recess which were enjoyed by all the students
