Carmel School celebrated National Science Week 2019 with many activities, demonstrations and prizes. A highlight of the week was the visit of the Year 6 students to the High School. They were involved in a wide variety of exciting experiments hosted by the Year 11 Chemistry students. The natural curiosity of the younger students shone and they had many more questions than the Year 11 students could answer. The Year 6 students were also delighted and awed by Mrs Paioff’s pyrotechnics and her boundless knowledge of all things science.

Lunchtimes saw students participate in a variety of activities from working with dry ice to the impossible nail challenge, which required students to balance 15 nails on a single nail in as short a time as possible.  This tested even the most able and determined students. The eventual winners for the challenge were Sam M and Avi M. Congratulations, gentlemen!
