Carmel Primary School has the third best Chess team in Western Australia!

Out of 12 primary schools who qualified for the Chess Association of WA's Interschool State Finals, only five schools attended the event. During The championship each team, consisting of the best four players from each school plus a reserve player, played twice against any other school.

The Carmel Primary Chess team consisting of Daniel L, Aaron L, Kovi L, Raphael R and Adam S, won their games easily twice against the Rosalie School team and twice against the Saint Paul School team. Our team lost twice against the strong Mt Lawley team, lost once against Nedlands Primary School but were able to draw on the second time.

Carmel Primary School won third place in WA, after Nedlands Primary School, who won the event, and Mt Lawley Primary School, who came in at second place.

It was the first time our team played in this format and it was a great experience for our talented players. Mazel tov to all members of our Chess team and mazel tov to Carmel School!
