Year 6 students and their parents volunteered at Menora Charity Fund as part of their Jewish Life and Learning project. Students have been discussing the concept of tzedakah in class and put their knowledge into practice by volunteering their time together with parents to work at the warehouse. Students were divided into four groups where they packed Rosh Hashanah baskets and makeup gift packs for families in our community as well as polished collectors’ teaspoons, and sorted toys and puzzles for sale at the upcoming garage sale on 22 September at the warehouse.

The Talmud teaches that tzedakah is equal to all the other commandments combined and we are taught to always give cheerfully. The Year 6 students together with their parents, Habonim and Menorah volunteers, certainly demonstrated that they were up to the task! Thank you to Mrs Viv Bensky and Mrs Nicky Wasserman for sharing this amazing mitzvah with us.
