Mr Mark Majzner

President

Mark (OKC 1983), is the first President of Carmel School to have attended K-12. His two children graduated from Carmel in 2017 and 2019. He held the position of Vice President since 2014, leading the strategy and Principal recruitment projects. Mark is active in several other Jewish community organizations and is passionate about Jewish Continuity, Jewish Education and Israel. Professionally, Mark lived in Asia, Europe and Sydney for 22 years, building and running private and publicly owned companies. Mark is the founding director and General Manager of the Australian subsidiary of Razor Labs Ltd, one of Israel's leading AI solutions companies.

Mrs Debbie Silbert

Immediate Past President

Debbie joined the Carmel School board in 2013 after being a member and co-President of the P&F committee for several years. She was President of the Board from 2016 to 2021. Her 3 children are attending, or have attended, Carmel School from Kindy to Year 12. Debbie is passionate about the long term success of the School and believes that the School plays a crucial role in the overall success of the Perth Jewish community.

Mr Rael Bricker

Vice-President

Rael Bricker is an International Keynote Speaker on Business Excellence, A mentor, coach and author, as well as the Founder and Managing Director of House & Home Financial Services Group, Rael holds two Masters Degrees, an MBA and a MSc (Engineering). In the early 90’s he built a private education group in South Africa that had 4000 students over 6 national campuses. 

Rael has 3 children who completed a cumulative 41 years at Carmel School. Rael has served on the board of Carmel for 20 years, and as Vice President since 2011 and in a variety of roles including building projects and marketing and has a passion for ensuring that a Strong Jewish Day School is at the heart of the Perth Community.

Mr Jonathan Schneider

Vice-President

Jonathan joined the board in 2016, served as Treasurer from 2017 to 2021 and now has the role of Vice President. Jonathan and his wife Felicity (OKC 1997) were both born in Perth and have two children who proudly attend Carmel School. Professionally, Jonathan is a Senior Partner with the Global Consulting firm Deloitte, he is the leader of the firm's tax practice in Western Australia and is also a member of the firm's National Tax Executive.

The Hon Justice Rabbi Marcus Solomon

Governor

Marcus Solomon is a former student and staff member of Carmel School and the parent of 6 children and the husband of Linda - all educated at Carmel. He is the honorary senior Rabbi of the Beit Midrash of WA (Dianella Shule) and is a judge of the Supreme Court of WA.

Mr Gary Louis

Treasurer

Gary is the Treasurer (appointed 2021) and member of the Finance Committee (appointed 2016) and currently has two sons at Carmel in Years 6 and 8. He previously served as an Executive Member on the Board of The Perth Hebrew Congregation (2011 to 2016). Gary is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Justice of the Peace with over 20 years of experience in the property industry. His experience is across a broad range of property sectors including residential, commercial, industrial, retail and land development. Areas of specialisation include project feasibility modelling, debt raising, contract negotiations, sales and leasing. Gary is currently the State Manager WA/SA Commercial Real Estate at the National Australia Bank.

Mr Simon Moen

Honorary Secretary

Simon attended Carmel from K to 12 and graduated in 1992. He is the honorary secretary of the Carmel School Board and has served as a Board member since 2015. Simon is a commercial property lawyer and a partner at Jackson McDonald lawyers. Simon and his wife Melanie have been blessed with 5 children who attend Carmel.  

Dr Stephanie Chetrit

General Member

Stephanie was born and raised in Paris, France and came to Carmel for Year 12, as a mature age student. In Paris, Stephanie did not have the opportunity of a formal Jewish education and she loved her time at Carmel. From an academic point of view, it allowed her to get into and study medicine. Stephanie currently works in surgical education at Royal Perth Hospital and as a surgeon at the SJOG hospitals. She is delighted to have her 2 children now at Carmel so that they too can benefit from the educational and community environment of Carmel School. 

Ms Alana Delcanho

General Member

Alana graduated from Carmel School in 1998. She lived in Melbourne for 10 years and recently returned to Perth. Alana is very happy to be part of the Carmel School community again with her husband Ben and three children (aged 7, 5 and 2). Professionally, Alana is an experienced commercial lawyer, having worked closely with private and public sector organisations across a range of industries both in Australia and internationally. As a senior lawyer at the State Solicitor's Office of Western Australia, Alana is currently advising the WA Government on a pipeline of major infrastructure projects. 

Mrs Jessica Barrett

Board Appointee

Jessica was born in Perth and is a Carmel graduate (OKC 2000). After a period interstate and overseas she returned to Perth to start her family. She has three children aged 8, 6 and 2 years. 

Jessica has worked as an emergency and critical care veterinarian for 16 years. She holds a senior position in the professional college for veterinary scientists. 

Jessica is committed to the Perth Jewish community and has always been involved in local organisations. She believes that Carmel school is the centre and strength of the Perth community and she is a proud graduate and parent at Carmel school. 

Mrs Hadassa London

Board Appointee

Hadassa was born in Perth and attended Carmel School for Years 11 and 12, graduating in 2004. Although her Carmel education was brief, she found it to be a wonderful experience that left a significant and lasting impact on her.  Hadassa is delighted to be involved in the Carmel community again, this time as a parent. She and her husband Jeremy (OKC 2002) have three children currently aged 8, 5 and 2.  

Hadassa is a principal policy officer at the WA Department of Finance within the commercial procurement policy area, where she develops, implements and evaluates policy initiatives, and advises State agencies on their procurement obligations. Hadassa holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts and is admitted to legal practice.
