STEM at its Best!
In Week 8, in a lighthearted approach to science as we approached the end of term, the Years 7 and 8 Science students competed in a STEM challenge. After a lesson with Dr Wauge on the strengths and weaknesses of fettucine, students went away with some marshmallows and dried pasta and were challenged to build a bridge in the 30-50cm gap between two desks. The bridge had to support as many 50g weights from a single point as possible. The task encouraged both cooperation and the exercising of restraint by not eating the marshmallows! Students had fun and welcomed the change from their normal formal Science lessons.
