Mazal tov to the 13 amazing Carmel chess players who took part in and won the second interschool zonal chess competition on Sunday 30 August! The Central Zone event, hosted by Carmel Primary, had 52 players from 18 different schools represented. This win comes hot on the footsteps of their North Zone win on 16 August.

Carmel's points tally exceeded all other schools, including Perth Modern, and the team won the Central Zone trophy.

Aaron L, Daniel L, Ezra L and Kovi L finished their games with five points each and won gold medals. Raphael R and Yonatan K finished with four points each and Aaron won an individual trophy for coming third out of all the primary school players.

The competition was very hard, with many of the best junior chess players in WA being there. We look forward to the next zonal competitions and the Interschool State Chess Championship later in the year.
