In Semester 2 of 2020, Carmel commenced teaching an exciting new Entrepreneur Program to all Year 9 students.
The Program was developed using local knowledge and expertise, coupled with the US-based Uncharted Learning curriculum. Carmel is the first school in Australia to offer this curriculum. It delivers a broad and deep learning experience in a purpose-built space for students with an entrepreneurial spirit.
The Carmel Entrepreneur Program teaches students all aspects of taking an idea and building it into a company, accessing well-structured and in-depth lesson plans along the way that make use of explicit instruction, coupled with experiential learning. Topics covered in the program include ideation, customer discovery and connections, financial modelling and budgeting, building a minimum viable product, legal considerations, promotion and product pitch.
Carmel is the first and only school in Australia to run the Uncharted Learning program. Through the Carmel Entrepreneur Program, students connect with Curtin University, known for its innovative and entrepreneurial teaching and learning practices, as well as coaches and mentors from the business sector. They also have access to guest speakers, academics and leading thinkers in the entrepreneurship space.
