Yom Hashoah Dramatised by Year 10s

At our Yom Hashaoh ceremony on Monday 12 April, some Year 10 students dramatised the life of the poet, fighter and heroine, Chana Senesh, who returned to Hungary in 1944 after making Aliyah in order to help her family and fellow Jews. Chana’s poems, set to haunting music, were performed and the audience was moved by the story of her courage and bravery in the face of danger.
Our guest speaker, Mrs Illana Klevansky, eloquently related the incredible story of her late mother’s life from her childhood in Lithuania to her liberation. It was a very uplifting and memorable story. The commemoration service concluded with the Partisan Song, sung completely in Yiddish by Aaron Levine.
