We are looking for expressions of interest for volunteers from the business community to be involved in our Year 9 Entrepreneurship Program. Our current priority is to ensure that each of our Year 9 teams has a business mentor.

The Carmel Entrepreneur Program is unique in Australia. It incorporates the Uncharted Learning program called ‘MxINC’ and brings the practical learning to the classroom where students are required to exercise soft skills, such as public speaking, interviewing, networking, and leadership, as they interact with the business world.

All Year 9 students start with two weeks of basic studies in economics to familiarise themselves with how the Australian economy works and provide context as they build their enterprises. The entrepreneurial section of the program will be run for 8 weeks and split into 6 main phases, which are as follows:

  • Discover a problem, need or want
  • Design a solution
  • Pitch a business idea
  • Create the solution
  • Sell the solution

This program not only simulates the real world but embeds the classroom within the wider community. It does this in several ways including, but not limited to, opportunities to hear from some of the world’s best entrepreneurs from a range of backgrounds and industries as well as the opportunity to visit some of Western Australia’s best innovation hubs.

Please email Lisa Rosenberg if you are interested - or know someone who is interested - in being involved in this amazing initiative.
